Jerk Spiced Portobello Steaks
For all of you that wish you could just be able to eat steak and have an alternative to grilling something like it, well here it is! If you haven’t tried them before then you are in for a treat! You can pan fry, grill or place under a broiler. Also, mushrooms are one of the best foods to boost your immune system.
What you need: serves 4
2 teaspoons light brown sugar, or natural sweetener (don’t worry, a little wont hurt)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon salt (please be moderate)
½ teaspoon cayenne
¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 large Portobello mushrooms, stems removed
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
What to do:
1. In a shallow bowl, combine the brown sugar, cumin, all spice, oregano, paprika, salt, cayenne, and nutmeg. Set aside.
2. Coat the mushroom caps with 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, then coat them evenly with the spice mixture. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook until tender, about 5 minutes per side. Serve hot!! Yum!!
Serve with a side of veggies or a salad for a delicious and nutritious meal!!
